It had been more than a year since competing, but on Sunday graduate student Katie Canning made her return to competition after sitting out to rehabilitate from a repaired labrum.
Canning showed no signs of losing her luster when the Temple women's gymnastics team went to Ursinus for a tri-meet against the hosting Bears and Ithaca College.
In her 2012 season debut and first competition back, she took the all-around top spot with a score of 38.275 to help the Owls win their first competition of the season.
In the day's first event, Canning had a great start as she took first place on the vault (9.725).
As the afternoon went on, the Billerica, Mass. native continued to give an impressive performance, as she placed third on uneven bars (9.350), second on the balance beam (9.650) and tied for fourth in floor exercise (9.550).
