Known as the 18th highest scorer in Temple basketball history during his time, Nelson Bobb scored 984 points. He led the Owls in scoring during the 1942-43, 1947-48 and 1948-49 seasons in a career interrupted by the service. He set several Temple court records that were eventually erased as the sport changed. He held the marks for most points and most field goals in one season, the best season average for points per game and the most points in a career. The 1947-48 season was his most productive when he averaged 14.9 points a game and scored 342 points. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors and played four seasons of professional basketball. Before enrolling at Temple, he starred at West Philadelphia High School where he made the All-City team as a junior and senior. West Philadelphia High won the Public High School and City championships his senior year when he was co-captain and was also the Public High champion in his junior season.
