Ryan Heins Named Second Team All-Atlantic 10

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Ryan Heins capped a stellar men's soccer career at Temple with his All-Atlantic 10 second team selection. Heins was the lone Owl to earn all-conference accolades in voting conducted by the Conference's head coaches.
Heins, a 6-2 midfielder out of Shawnee (NJ) High, scored one goal and two assists on the season. A four-year starter, the Medford, N.J. native tallied seven goals and 11 assiss for 25 career points.
Rhode Island senior forward Jeffrey Gonsalves and junior goalkeeper Eric Sciocchetti of Richmond were named the 2006 Atlantic 10 men's soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. Rob Viviano of Saint Louis was named Rookie of the Year and Saint Louis head coach Dan Donigan was selected as Coach of the Year. In a vote of the A-10's sports information directors, John DiRaimondo of Saint Louis earned Student-Athlete of the Year honors.
Gonsalves, and Sciocchetti are joined on the All-Conference first-team by Saint Louis teammates John DiRaimondo, Eric Sweetin and Dan Guffey; La Salle's Jeremy Oriz; Dawid Bawdecki of Rhode Island; Kevin Omokhua of St. Bonaventure; Duquesne's Travis MacKenzie; Kenny Cook of Massachusetts; and Evan Harding from Charlotte.
Besides Heins, the second-team is comprised of Duquesne teammates Tom Sochacki, Noah Salsi and Zach Varga; Casey Spiess and Calum Angus of Saint Louis; Rhode Island's Lukas Tumicz and Adam Howarth; Fordham's Scott Meyer; and Michael Rose and Pete Palomino of Charlotte.
Viviano headlines the All-Rookie team which consists of Joey Foster of La Salle; Richmond's Fynn Glover; Andrew Hanycz and Slavisa Ubiparapopvic of Xavier; Bryan Hogan of Massachusetts; Charlotte's Andre Lee and David Martin; Samuel Maheu of St. Bonaventure; George Washington's Andrew Stadler; and Alex Trujillo of Duquesne.
DiRaimondo, the 2005 A-10 Offensive Player of the Year, earns the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year honor as an accounting major. The Saint Louis, MO, resident was a 2005 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team selection and ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-America selection. On the field, he is a two-time Hermann Trophy candidate and a College Soccer News second-team All-America honoree. The midfielder enters the Championship as the team's leading scorer with five goals and four assists for 14 points on the season.
DiRaimondo is joined on the Academic All-Conference Team by Duquesne teammates Jared Helfrich, Travis MacKenzie, Noah Salsi and Zach Varga; Zack Simmons of Massachusetts; St. Bonaventure's Phil Amahazion; Richmond's Phil Hartman and Eric Sciocchetti; Michael Rose of Charlotte; and Mark Sauter of Rhode Island.
