Temple’s Jaiquawn Jarrett Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Owls Host Army in Homecoming Game on Oct. 17
CLEVELAND – Temple junior DB Jaiquawn Jarrett (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has earned Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the East division, the MAC announced on Monday.
In Temple's 24-19 win over Ball State, Jarrett led the Owls with nine tackles, including five solos, two interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a break-up. The two interceptions were a career-high and his first this season (fifth & sixth of his career).
With the win, Temple captured its fifth consecutive MAC home victory and increased its league-leading home field record to 8-2 (since TU joined the MAC in 2007).
Temple opened play in the MAC at 3-0 for the first time ever and opened conference play with three wins for the first time since 1967.
For his efforts, Jarrett also earned national Honorable Mention Performer of the Week accolades from the College Football Performance Award and OwlSports.com co-Athlete of the Week honors.
A starter in five games, Jarrett leads all defenders with 27 tackles, a team-high two interceptions, three break-ups, and two fumble recoveries.
The MAC honor is the first of Jarrett's collegiate career and the Owls' fourth honor this season in as many weeks.
Additionally, freshman kicker Brandon McManus (Hatfield, Pa.) earned Honorable Mention Performer of the Week accolades at specialist from the College Football Performance Award. He converted a 27-yard field goal and three extra points against BSU.
Temple (3-2, 3-0 MAC) continues it two-game homestand with Army (3-3) for its annual Homecoming game on Saturday,Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.
