PHILADELPHIA - The 30th Annual Temple Fencing Open began Saturday at McGonigle Hall with Owls' sophomore Alyssa Lomuscio winning the title in foil. Senior Melissa Parker finished second to Lomuscio in the same weapon.
Also in foil, freshman Mikayla Viradi took a fifth place finish, followed by junior Cara Taggersell in tenth and Danielle Jones in 49th.
In epee, junior Grace Wu and senior Kristin Howell finished tied for third after a hard fought day. Sophomore Jill Bratton and junior Alyssa Lombardi finished 20th and 21st, respectively. Also competing in the weapon was sophomore Nicola Horscroft, placing 43rd.
In sabre, sophomore Kamali Thompson was the Owls' top finisher, placing third. Senior Christie Griffith had a strong showing placing ninth, and junior Audrey Barroso finished 20th. Junior Samantha Pascarelli rounded out the Temple competitors, finishing 25th.
