Volleyball Rallies for 3-1 Win at Charlotte
Yun Yi Zhang leads Owls with 28 kills; Temple faces Saint Louis at home Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In its final regular season road match, the Temple volleyball team rallied after losing the first set 25-22, coming back to win the next three 25-21, 25-18 and 25-23.

Yun Yi Zhang led the Owls with a match-high 28 kills and Cayleigh Ashman tallied 11 kills with just one error, hitting a match-high .526.

Ariel Pierre was impressive on defense with 27 digs, leading all players in the match.

Temple began to come back from a seven-point deficit near the end of the first set, but couldn’t close the gap as Charlotte took a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Owls knocked down 15 kills with only one error to win the second set with a hitting percentage of .426. Neither team hit well in the third, but Temple had a strong lead before the 49ers fought back on five set points. Zhang finally closed out with a kill to give the Owls a 2-1 lead.

The fourth set saw 12 ties, the final tie coming at 21-21, but Zhang took over with three kills in the final five points to lead Temple to victory.

Zhang and fellow senior Jackie Morrison will be honored prior to the Owls’ final home match on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m. against #20 Saint Louis. Temple has also designated the match in support of “Dig Pink,” and fans are encouraged to wear pink. Admission will be $2.00.
