PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women’s crew won three races and placed second in two others in a strong day on the Schuylkill River at the Braxron Memorial Regatta on Sunday. All three of the Owls' "fours" won while the Varsity and JV eights placed second.
"It was a really good day and a great way to end the fall season,"Temple coach Tim Hagan said. "The team is really happy with the way they performed and are looking forward to the spring."
The Varsity 8, comprised of Erin Buchanan (coxswain), Paige O’ Sullivan (stroke), Taylor Wasserleben (7-seat), Bailey Chick (6-seat), Mary Webster (5-seat), Kara Jackson (4-seat), Jeanine Lees (3-seat), Brynn Moore (2-seat), and Nicole Wagner (bow), placed for the second straight day to Drexel. St. Mary's was third followed by Penn State.
The JV 8, comprised of Isabella Bourbon (coxswain), Allison Boc (stroke), Megan Hanlin (7-seat), Kendra Dickenson (6-seat), Megan Silk (5-seat), Joanna Sutor (4-seat), Molly Schrenier (3-seat), Caitlin Pennington (2-seat), and Angela Flinn (bow), also placed second to Drexel. Binghampton was third followed by Scranton.
Both Temple Varsity 4 boats won their races. The Varsity 4 A, comprised of Erin Buchanan (coxswain), Bailey Chick (stroke), Mary Webster (3-seat), Brynn Moore (2-seat) and Nicole Wagner (bow), bested UMBC, Stony Brook A, Scranton and St. Mary's. The Varsity 4 B boat, comprised of Alexis Coomey (coxswain), Ryan Ellenbaum (stroke), Alexandria Slater-Williams (3-seat), Dana Meadows (2-seat), Claudia Loeber (bow), defeated Philadelphia U, Stony Brook B and Binghampton.
The Freshman/Novice 4, comprised of Alexis Coomey (coxswain), Paige O’ Sullivan (stroke), Jeanine Lees (3-seat), Joanna Sutor (2-seat) and Angela Flinn (bow), won its race, defeating Stony Brook and Penn State.
The Freshman/Novice 8 boat rounded out the day with fifth place showing.
