Senior midfielder boasts a 3.70 cumulative grade point average in economics
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior midfielder J.T. Noone has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Men's Soccer Academic All-America University Division Second Team. The team is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Noone, who earned first team honors last year, joins softball star Robin Boyd (2nd, 1986; 1st, 1987) as the only other student-athlete in Temple history to earn Academic All-America recognition twice.
The Harrisburg, PA native (Central Dauphin) earned a 3.70 cumulative grade point average for his college career, being named to the Academic All-Atlantic 10 Conference team the past two seasons. He was also recently named to the ESPN The Magazine Men's Soccer Academic All-District 2 University Division First Team, and was honored as the 2009 top male Student-Athlete of the Year at Temple's annual Breakfast of Champions.
A two-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference first team selection, Noone led the Cherry and White in assists for the third consecutive season (7). Setting the single-season assist mark last year with 13, he became TU's all-time leader in that category against Albany on Sept. 20, now owning 26 career dishes. Combined with 12 career goals, he accumulated 50 points during his tenure.
Noone's final season was highlighted by a dramatic 2-1 win over 15th-ranked Charlotte on Senior Day, helping the Owls (9-7-2, 4-4-1 in A-10 play) finish with back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2003 and 2004.
