Todd Hoffard Named Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

PHILADELPHIA (9/10/09) – Todd Hoffard, who has over a decade of collegiate coaching experience, has been named assistant women's soccer coach at Temple University, announced Owls' head coach David Jones. Once a standout goalkeeper at Hartwick College ('94), Hoffard will work primarily with Temple's net minders.

“Todd is an ultimate professional with a wealth of coaching and playing experience,” Jones said. “He is as much of a coach as I am and will bring that much more experience into what we're trying to accomplish as a team.”

A first round draft pick of the Harrisburg Heat of the NPSL in 1995, Hoffard played eight years on the professional circuit and was voted to the Rookie All-Star team in 1995. During his playing days, he also was able to coach at the collegiate level. In 1996 he served as an assistant coach with Elizabethtown College before moving to St. Bonaventure University women's program in 1998. After spending two years with the Bonnies, Hoffard helped lead them to the school's first A-10 Tournament berth in 1999.

At the end of 1999, Hoffard became the goalkeeper coach for Oneonta State University and then moved on to be an assistant coach with the College of Charleston women's soccer team. For the 2003 season, he moved to the Philadelphia area to serve as the goalkeeper coach for Penn's men's and women's soccer teams.

“I'm excited to try and change this program and get things going in the right direction,” commented Hoffard. “I think after our last few wins that the team has what it takes to set a standard for years to come, and I'm excited to be a part of that.”

The Owls (2-1-1, 0-0 A-10) come home to Ambler this weekend for a two-game set against Wagner and Albany.
