Joins Christmas on NBA training camp roster; Semaj Inge signs pro contract
PHILADELPHIA – Former Temple standout Mark Tyndale, the 2008 Philadelphia Big 5 Co-Most Outstanding Player, has been added to the training camp roster of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced today. Tyndale, who teamed with Dionte Christmas to finish one-two in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring for the 2006-07 season, joins the former three-time A-10 scoring champion on a NBA training camp roster. Christmas is on the Philadelphia 76ers roster.
Another former Temple standout, Semaj Inge, the starting point guard for the Owls' 2008-09 A-10 championship team, has signed a professional contract with Team KR of the Icelandic Basketball League.
Tyndale, who had a brief professional stint last year in Australia, is the only Temple player to rank among the school's all-time top 20 in points (1,729 points/8th), rebounds (733/11th) and top 10 in assists (377/10th). He earned first team all-Big 5 as a junior (2006-07) and senior (2007-08), and second team all-Atlantic 10 as a senior. As a junior he compiled a career best 19.5 scoring average, finishing second in the A-10 to Christmas' 19.7 average.
Christmas, who earned Honorable Mention All-America honors as a senior, earned the 2009 Philadelphia Big 5 Most Outstanding Player award, capping a career that included three first team all-Big 5 selections and two first team All-Atlantic 10 honors. He ended his career with an Owls' career record of 319 three-pointers made while scoring 2,043 points, 4th all-time at the school. The 6-5 shooting guard is the only player in A-10 history to lead the league in scoring in three consecutive seasons.
Inge, who started all 34 of the Owls' games to help lead the Cherry and White to a 22-12 record and a second straight A-10 Championship in '08-09, had his best season as a senior. He led Temple with 122 assists while averaging 6.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
