Owls stir up several near makes on the game

AMBLER, Pa. – The Temple women's soccer team could not capitalize on several scoring opportunities to overcome a 1-0 deficit to Saint Louis at Ambler Sports Complex on Friday afternoon. The Owls are now 6-11-1 on the season, 1-6-1 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Billikens move to 4-9-5, 3-5-0 in conference play.
Senior forward Niki Conn had seven shots on the game for the Owls, missing high twice on scoring opportunities in the first half.
The deciding goal came from Saint Louis sophomore Alli Reimer, who blasted a loose ball top right corner from 18-yards out in the 85th minute.
Temple junior keeper Tara Murphy (3-7-1) recorded six saves in the effort. The Billikens sophomore Katie Walsh made four saves in the game for her ninth shutout of the season.
Temple's best scoring opportunity came in the 89th minute, when Conn ripped a ball from close range that was stopped by Walsh. Saint Louis outshot the Owls 13-12 on the match, with seven on goal for Saint Louis compared to Temple's four.
The Owls conclude their 2010 season at home Sunday, when they face Charlotte at 1:00 p.m. at Ambler. The seniors will be honored prior to the start of Sunday's match.
