Women's Soccer Battles To 1-1 Draw At Richmond

K. Yurkovic to Conn connection ties game late

RICHMOND, Va. - In their weekend finale at Richmond, the Temple women's soccer team (5-6-1, 0-1-1 battled to a 1-1 draw with the Spiders (4-5-2, 1-0-1) on Sunday. Junior Niki Conn continues to ignite the Owls' offense, netting her team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Richmond went up in the first half on a goal from Becca Wana in the 35th minute. Crystal Koczot found Wana for a header in front of the net.
Owls' junior keeper Tara Murphy was solid in goal all day. Murphy made 14 saves in the match, including eight in the second half.
The Cherry and White posted 13 shots in the second half, seeing their efforts pay off in the 73rd minute. Sophomore Kate Yurkovic found Conn to tie the game and force overtime.
For Conn, it marks her 20th point of the season (8 g, 4 a). She becomes the first Owl since Brandi Wright in 1999 to hit the 20 point plateau in a single season.
The Spiders held Temple to no shots in the first overtime. The Owls managed two in the second OT with one on goal.
Temple returns home to take on school-rival Saint Joseph's on Friday, October 8 at 4:00 p.m.
