Owls' junior netted two goals in team's 2-0 shutout of Rutgers
PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's soccer junior Tyler Witmer has been named Philadelphia Soccer Six Co-Player of the Week, the league announced today. Witmer led the Owls with a two-goal performance in the team's 2-0 shutout of Big East foe Rutgers last week. He shares the honor with La Salle's Ryan Richter.
Witmer netted his first goal of the afternoon in the 59th minute on a feed from sophomore Andrew Dodds, ripping a shot top right to give the Owls the lead for good. He struck again in the 83rd, as sophomore Billy Kappock lifted a long pass to set up a breakaway goal for Witmer.
The Wernersville, Pa. (Conrad Weiser) now leads the team in goals with three and points with seven.
The Owls open Atlantic 10 play this weekend as they host school rival Saint Joseph's on Oct. 9 at 2:00 p.m.
