Men's Varsity 4 Advances at IRA National Championships

CAMDEN, NJ - The Temple men's Varsity 4 placed second in its repechage to advance to Friday's semifinals at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships held on the Cooper River Thursday.
The Owls' Varsity 4 of James Barr (stroke), Scott Waters (3-seat), Jason Cartwright (2-seat), Brendan Cunningham (bow) and Don Norris (cox) placed third in its first heat behind Wisconsin and Yale. The Owls bested Holy Cross, Drexel and Loyola (Md.).
In their afternoon rep, Temple was edged by 0.13 seconds by George Washington. The Owls defeated city rivals Penn (3rd), Saint Joseph's (5th) and Drexel (6th) with Harvard (4th) rounding out the field.
The IRA National Championships continue Friday and conclude Saturday.
