PHILADELPHIA  – Jimmy McDonnell, a 6-10 forward out of Jackson (NJ) Memorial High, has signed a men’s basketball scholarship letter to attend Temple University, announced head coach Fran Dunphy. McDonnell will be eligible for the 2010-11 season.

"We are excited to have Jimmy become a member of the Temple Basketball team," said Dunphy. "He is a developing player who has his best days ahead of him, and we are looking forward to having the opportunity to coach him."

A native of Jackson, N.J., McDonnell averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game in helping his team to a 16-8 record during his senior season. A first team all-Division selection in the A Shore Conference, he earned MVP honors at the WOBM Holiday Classic.

McDonnell joins incoming freshmen Aaron Brown, a 6-5 guard out of St. Benedict’s (NJ) Prep, and Anthony Lee, a 6-9 forward/center out of West Oaks (FL) Academy, to round out the Owls’ Class of 2014.

The three-time defending Atlantic 10 Conference Champion Temple Owls open the 2010-11 season on November 12 at the Liacouras Center against Seton Hall.
