Owls return six seniors to 2010 squad

NEW ORLEANS - Fresh off of their best Atlantic 10 Conference finish in school history, the Temple men's cross country team enters this season ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association poll. The Owls finished last season ranked ninth in the region, and are one of four teams from the A-10 to receive a top-10 ranking.

"It's great to achieve this kind of recognition and shows that our program continues to move in the right direction," commented head coach Eric Mobley. "Our team still looks to improve this year and continues work hard to better their finishes."

Big East powerhouses Georgetown and Villanova earned the top two spots in the region, with Ivy League competitor Princeton voted third. Temple, along with Saint Joseph's, La Salle and Duquesne, represented the Atlantic 10.

The Owls return six seniors to the 2010 squad, including All-Atlantic 10 selection senior Mike May. May became the first-ever male cross country runner in school history to garner all-conference honors, leading Temple to its best-ever fifth place finish at the 2009 A-10 Championships. The Owls made their presence felt regionally when they placed a school-best ninth at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships last season.

The Temple men's cross country team opens their season at the 16th Annual Monmouth Cross Country Invitational on September 18.
