- The Temple men's gymnastics team looked more than comfortable performing in the friendly confines of McGonigle Hall, as the Owls posted a season-high team score of 341.400 to place second in a home tri-meet with Penn State and Army.  Temple, competing in its first home meet of the season, registered a meet-best score as a team on vault.

Penn State led the way with a 351.800, followed by Temple's 341.400 and Army's 259.500.

Temple nearly outdid Penn State on floor to open the meet, besting Army's 53.300 with a score of 55.400.  Mooney was again the Owls' top finisher in the event, scoring 14.300.  Army's Kip Webber posted the highest floor score of the afternoon with a 14.900.

The Owls moved to pommel horse, with senior Adam Al-Rokh leading the Cherry and White with a score of 14.400.  As a unit, the pommel squad scored 55.400.  Al-Rokh and Mooney were the lone all-around competitors in the meet, scoring 83.300 and 83.800 respectively.

Next on rings, a three-way tie for team-best honors between Al-Rokh, Mooney and junior Taylor Brana with scores of 14.100 led the way for TU.  Freshman Dashiell Sears posted the next best score for the Owls, registering 14.000.  Temple put together a team total of 56.300, ranking second to PSU's score of 61.800.

The vault squad came prepared today scoring 62.100 as a squad.  Led by a team-best score of 15.700 from junior Chris Mooney, the vault squad topped a 61.800 from PSU.  Mooney tied PSU's Matt Chelberg for second on the apparatus.  Junior Evan Burke turned in the third highest score for the Owls with a 15.600, followed by a 15.500 from sophomore Brett Statman.

Senior Patrick McLaughlin also scored highest for Temple on parallel bars, posting a score of 14.700.  Brana came in a close second to McLaughlin with a 14.500, followed by a 13.900 from Al-Rokh.  As a whole, the Owls put together a score of 56.900 on parallel bars.

Temple closed the meet on high bar, recording a team total of 55.300.  McLaughlin closed the event with a team-best 14.200.  Mooney's score of 13.800 came in second for the Owls, followed by sophomore Allan Malone's 13.700.  Penn State's Matt Albrecth scored a meet-high 14.500 on the apparatus.

Up next for the Owls is a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., for the Winter Cup Challenge held February 3-5.
