Al-Rokh leads all-around with score of 84.000

PHILADELPHIA
- Led by an all-around score of 84.000 from senior Adam Al-Rokh, the 10th-ranked Temple men's gymnastics team topped William & Mary, 340.700-332.900, Saturday night at McGonigle Hall.  Senior Patrick McLaughlin also posted first place finishes on parallel bars and high bar.

McLaughlin posted a score of 14.600 on high bar to take meet-best honors, followed by sophomore Alex Tighe in second place with a score of 14.500.  The Tribe's Vince Sumurro finished third with a score of 14.400, while Owls' senior Logan Fiery took fourth with a score of 14.100.

On parallel bars, McLaughlin scored 14.400 to take top honors, with William & Mary's Kris Yeager finishing second with a score of 14.000.  Tighe and junior Taylor Brana tied for second with scores of 13.900.  As a whole, the parallel bars team scored 55.800.

Junior Evan Burke led the Owls on vault, scoring a meet-best 15.600, while William & Mary's Dave Ellis took second with a score of 15.400.  Senior Jeff Zack tied the Tribe's Landon Funicello for third with scores of 15.100. 

Funicello placed highest on rings, scoring 15.000, followed by Al-Rokh in second place with score of 14.500.  Brana finished third with a score of 13.900, helping the rings squad score 55.300 as a unit.

Al-Rokh, who won the all-around, was tops on pommel, scoring a meet-best 14.500.  The Owls fared well on pommel, as Brana placed second with a score of 13.900 and McLaughlin fourth with a score of 13.600.

Floor was the only event Temple was outdone on, with the Tribe posting a score of 56.200 to the Owls' 56.000.  Sumurro took top honors with an average of 14.600, followed by Zack in second place with a score of 14.400.

Up next for the Owls is a trip to Massachusetts for a meet against Springfield and SUNY-Brockport.
