Scootie Randall connected for 27 points, hitting a career-high six three-pointers, and Lavoy Allen added his third double-double in the last four games, to lead Temple to an 80-67 lwin over Rhode Island Saturday afternoon in front of 8,679 fans on hand to celebrate Hooter The Owl's birthday.  Temple, which has now won 18 straight games in its arena, improves to 17-5 overall and 7-2 in the Atlantic 10 with its fourth consecutive win. Rhode ISland falls to 14-9 and 5-4 in league play.

Randall, who made his first eight shots of the game, accounted for more than half of Temple's first half points, scoring 19 in the frame to help the Owls to a 36-30 advantage at the break.  He made all five of his treys with two coming in a 14-0 run to give the Cherry and White a 14-6 lead early on.

Temple would not trail the rest of the way, but Rhode Island, which has posted road wins over Richmond and Saint Louis, did not go quietly.

Senior forward Delroy James matched Randall with 27 on the day.  One of the top players in the conference with a 17.5 average, James netted 11 in the first half, but 13 of his second half points came after Temple had opened up a commanding 17 point lead, 67-50, with 5:25 remaining.

The Rams had a chance to tie it early in the second half.  Trailing 42-39 following a Marquis Jones (18 points) jumper, Jones proceed to steal the ball.  Akeem Richmond, who started the game with consecutive threes, missed from long-range. 

Randall missed his first shot of the game,a three-pointer, on the ensuing possession, but Allen, who scored 13 points and added a game-high 10 rebounds, pulled down the offensive board and hit Randall for a lay-up.  Randall was fouled on the play and converted the free throw, making it 45-39. 

Jones and Ramone Moore, who contributed 13 points and six assists, then exhanged three-pointers.  Jamal Wilson cut the Owls' lead to four with a basket before Temple went on a 12-1 run to break the game open with a 60-45 lead.  Allen had six of his points during this stretch.

Temple never let the margin dip under double-figures the remainder of the contest.

Khalif Wyatt came off the bench for the second straight game, scoring all 14 of his points in the second half.  Juan Fernandez, back in his starting spot for the second consecutive game, was held scoreless.  He did however match Moore for game-high honors in assists with six.

Temple next hosts Fordham on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
