Game Notes

AMHERST, MA -
Temple makes its final road trip of the regular season as the Owls (22-6, 12-2) travel to Amherst to take on Massachusetts (15-12, 7-7) Wednesday night (7:00 p.m./1210 WPHT).

Temple, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Fran Dunphy, clinched a first round bye in the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a 57-41 win over George Washington on Saturday.  Senior forward Lavoy Allen, the reigning A-10 and Big 5 Player of the Week, played a major role in Saturday's victory, posting his eighth double-double of the year and 36th of his career with 19 points and a season-high 16 boards.  He also blocked three shots in the game to become just the fifth player in Temple history with 200.  He continues to lead the Owls and rank fourth in the league in rebounding (7.8 rpg.), while placing third on the team in scoring (11.2 ppg.).

Junior guard Ramone Moore continues to pace the Temple attack, leading the team and ranking 10th in the A-10 in scoring (15.0 ppg.). The Philadelphia native also ranks second on the team in assists (3.3 apg.) and steals (1.3 spg.).  Classmate Juan Fernandez leads Temple in assists (3.8 apg.) and averages double-figure scoring (10.0 ppg.).

The Owls were once again without regular starters Scootie Randall and Micheal Eric against George Washington, with sophomore forward Rahlir Jefferson (5.7 ppg., 5.2 rpg.) and freshman guard Aaron Brown (2.3 ppg.) getting the nod to round out the starting five.  Sophomore guard Khalif Wyatt, a candidate for A-10 Sixth Man of the Year, gives the Owls a spark off the bench with his 9.1 points per game and team-leading 42.2 percent from three-point range.

Massachusetts, under the direction of third-year head coach Derek Kellogg, is playing its second straight game against a Philadelphia opponent as the Minutemen lost 72-51 at La Salle Saturday.  Redshirt-senior Anthony Gurley is the lone UMass player to average in double-figure scoring (18.3 ppg.) and ranks third in the conference.

The all-time series favors Temple, 41-20, with the Owls having won having won four of the last six meetings, including a 76-64 decision last year (1/16) at the Liacouras Center.
