Owls to play five local matches, two in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA - Head coach Matt Gwilliam has announced the spring schedule for the Temple women's soccer team with five local matches highlighting the 2011 training season for the Owls. Temple will be competing in Philadelphia twice, giving fans a chance to see the Cherry and White take on city rivals Drexel and La Salle.
"I could not be happier with the spring schedule we have set up," said Gwilliam. "We have been able to continue to foster the local rivalries and play some excellent competition. It has been a spring season of change here with a big loss of our graduating seniors, but we are eager to see how our current roster adapts to this new challenge."
The Owls open the spring season with match at Ambler Sports Complex, competing against Lafayette College on March 26 (1:00 p.m.). Temple then travels to a match at Warwick High School against Mount St. Mary's on April 2 (3:00 p.m.).
A doubleheader with city foe La Salle and NJIT have Temple competing at La Salle. The Cherry and White take on the Explorers on April 10 (10:00 a.m.) followed by the Highlanders at 11:15 a.m. Temple then takes on Drexel on April 16, with game time slated for 10:30 a.m. The Owls hosting Chestnut Hill College at Ambler Sports Complex on April 23 (11:00 a.m.) has been cancelled.
