Owls welcome Karly O'Toole, Jourdan Brill and Amanda Ward to squad
PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's soccer coach Matt Gwilliam is excited to announce the addition of Karly O'Toole, Jourdan Brill and Amanda Ward to the 2011 roster. All three are transfers who have already gained valuable experience at the Division I level.
"We are excited to welcome these three student-athletes to our Temple soccer program," commented Gwilliam. "Each of them brings a wealth of experience at both the Division I level and at the youth club level. They are all dedicated student-athletes who, undoubtedly, will help achieve the success here at Temple that we are striving for both on and off the field. Jourdan has logged a lot of minutes at the Division I level, while Amanda has the experience of playing and competing at the national club level with FC Delco. Karly is coming from one of the best conferences in the country. All these experiences will be a key in helping us move forward."
Brill enters Temple as a junior, transferring from Mount Saint Mary's after playing in 38 games over two years there as a midfielder. Prior to that, she was a standout at Penn Manor where she was named first team All-Lancaster-Lebanon and the most valuable player of the league. The Millersville, Pa., native was also dubbed a member of the All-State team and led her team to two district qualifiers.
Ward and O'Toole are both will begin their Temple careers as sophomores. Ward, hailing from Sewell, N.J., was a one-year member of the Florida Atlantic women's soccer team and spent her high school playing days at Washington Township. She played her club ball with FC DELCO, leading the team to win the 2009 U17 Red Bull National Championship.
O'Toole appeared in 15 games and started seven as a defender in her freshman year at Syracuse. The Glenmoore, Pa., native was a four-year letterwinner at Downingtown East High School, serving as team captain her senior year in which she was a first team All-Area, All-District and All-State team selection.
