Martinelli Named Philadelphia Soccer Six Player & Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – The awards keep on coming for freshman Jared Martinelli. A day after being named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the Mechanicsburg, Pa. native has now been named the Philadelphia Soccer Six's Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
Leading all scorers among the six city schools, Martinelli had another impressive weekend, as he led Temple to an unbeaten weekend (2-0), including a pair of shutouts over Fordham (2-0) and La Salle (3-0).
The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native registered five points off two game-winning tallies, while tacking on an assist against the Explorers.
Currently, he is ranked in a tie for fifth place in the nation with junior Vaughn Spurrier in assists with 10 and is tied for 15th in the nation in points (28) and ranks 20th for ppg (1.65). He, along with Spurrier are also tied for seventh in the NCAA in assists per game with 0.59.
Martinelli's 28 points currently ties him for eighth in program history for points in a single season, while his nine goals are the most by an Owl since 2003.
