No 12th Game for Temple Football

11.13.12 | Football

PHILADELPHIA – Negotiations between Temple University and the University of Hawaii have ended, and the universities have been unable to come to terms on playing a football game during the 2012 season.

Temple University went above and beyond normal scheduling procedures in an effort to provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to play in a 12th football game this season," said Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw. “Unfortunately that will not be possible as our negotiations with the University of Hawaii have ended.  We felt that we had an agreement in place with the University of Hawaii, but in the end its administration was unable to fulfill it due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Temple football returned to the BIG EAST Conference this fall after a seven-year absence. With the change in conference affiliation announced in March, the Owls were left with only seven conference games (from eight in the MAC) on the 2012 schedule.  This afforded Temple the opportunity to add another non-conference game.

This week Temple (3-6, 2-4 BIG EAST) travels to Army (2-8) on Nov. 17 for a Noon game at Michie Stadium. CBS Sports Network will televise the game nationally.
