GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mother nature intervened in Temple and North Carolina A&T's weekend series opener at War Mermorial Stadium in the top of the third inning when torrential rains started to pour. The game in which the Owls lead 7-2, has been suspended until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday before playing game two of the three-game set.
When the Owls and Aggies pick up action, junior Jordan Queja will be the batter, holding a 1-0 count with Nick Lustrino and David Hall on first and second base with two outs.
The Owls broke out of a 2-2 tie in third before the game went into a rain delay, when redshirt senior Steve Nikorak clubbed an RBI double to put Temple back in front after squandering a 2-0 lead. Nikorak's double gives him 53 in his career, putting one shy of tying Tom Whalen (1993-96) on Temple's all-time list.
Extending the lead to a 7-2 count, walk-on freshman Connor Reilly belted the Owls' first home run of the season, scoring senior Taylor Juran on the two-run blast.
