PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Temple women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over visiting Buffalo on Sunday, February 26, at Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.

In a match that started with singles instead of the traditional start with doubles, Yana Mavrina got the Owls on the board first with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. The Bulls tied it up at 1-1 with Miranda Podlas' three-set win over Agnese Rozite (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) at the fifth flight.

TU earned the next two points when Paola Calderon picked up a 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 win at number two and Jordan Batey defeated Kira Golenko at number four, 6-2, 6-3.

Buffalo cut it to one with a win at the third flight, but Rebecca Breland wrapped up the win with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Anamaria Candanoza at number six, giving Temple the 4-2 advantage.

Despite the match already being decided, the teams still played out the doubles point, with the Bulls winning the second and third flights to earn the point.

Temple is 4-4 and is off until March 7 when it travels to UNC-Wilmington for a 2 p.m. match.
