Peddy earns the A-10 honor for the third time this season after leading the Owls to another 2-0 week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For a second straight week and the third time this season, Shey Peddy has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Richmond's Liz Brown was selected as A-10 Rookie of the Week. Peddy also earned Big 5 Player of the Week honors for her performances.

Peddy averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Temple, including an 80-70 win at cross-town rival Saint Joseph's on Feb. 1 and a 69-51 victory over Fordham on Feb. 4. The Roxbury, Mass., native opened the week with a game-high 26 points, shooting 40 percent (6-15) from the field and 100 percent (10-10) at the line against the Hawks, while adding four assists and four rebounds.

She followed with a double-double of a game-high 21 points and a career-high 11 assists versus the Rams. For the week, Peddy shot 51.7 percent from the field (15-of-29) and 41.7 percent from behind the arc (5-of-12). She was a perfect 12-of-12 in free throws and recorded 15 assists to just two turnovers. The senior guard currently ranks second in the A-10 with 17.0 points per game and third in steals at 2.8 per game.

Brown averaged a double-double of 10.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in an unblemished 2-0 week for the Spiders, while shooting 50 percent (9-18) from the floor and adding a pair of steals and assists. The Cockeysville, Md., native opened the week with her first career double-double – 10 points and 15 rebounds – in Richmond's 68-49 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 31, before posting 11 points and corralling nine rebounds in a 78-59 victory over visiting Saint Joseph's on Feb. 4. Her 15 rebounds against the Rams was a UR season-high and the most by a Spider since Genevieve Okoro grabbed 16 rebounds last February. Richmond's 18-5 overall record is the program's best since 2004-05.
