Women's Basketball's Shey Peddy Earns WBCA All-Region Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. - Senior Shey Peddy of Temple women's basketball was among 52 all-region selections across the nation, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on March 15. On, Monday, March 19, the selection committee will review these candidates and trim the list to 40 finalists, all of whom will be in the running for selection to the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team.
The honor came on the same day Peddy hit the 1,000-point mark in just her two-year Temple career, as she scored a game-high 21 points in the Owls' WNIT First-Round win vs. Quinnpiac to get to 1,001 points as an Owl. Overall, Peddy has scored 1,855 points in Division I including two years at Wright State.
Peddy was named the 2012 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, and was recently named to the 2012 A-10 All-Tournament Team. She leads the Owls and the A-10 in scoring at 17.3 points per game, and her 536 points this season rank eighth all-time in a single season at Temple. She was a four-time A-10 Player of the Week this season, and earned USBWA National Player of the Week honors after performances that including tying the Owls' all-time single-game record with 10 steals in a win at Rhode Island.
She has recorded 99 steals this season to rank second on the all-time list, behind only her 104 steals from a season ago. Her 69 three-pointers in 2011-12 rank first all-time in a single season at Temple.
Eleven others join Peddy on the Region 1 list including three players from Notre Dame and two from Connecticut. Click HERE for a complete list of the WBCA All-Region selections.
The Owls will host Harvard in the WNIT Second Round on Saturday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. in McGonigle Hall.
