PHILADELPHIA –
Entering his second year at the reigns of the Temple women's soccer team, head coach Matt Gwilliam has wrapped up his first recruiting season and the Owls are through with spring ball, turning the attention to the main slate, which kicks off at Stony Brook on Aug. 19—as announced today along with the entire 2012 schedule.

“We have a strong core of teams to battle this season and this schedule sets us up to do very well in the Atlantic 10,” Gwilliam said. “We have our first three at home and do not have any weeks off , which is what we wanted in order to stay focused. We are very excited to have that consistency and to go out there and compete. With a good number of our players returning and with the many that will be joining us, we are thrilled to have a deep squad that is going to carry us through the season.”

Following the season opener, the Owls will make their way down to Harrisonburg, Va. on Aug. 24 to face Hofstra in the James Madison Tournament before facing the hosting JMU Dukes on Sunday, Aug. 26.

With three games under its belt, Temple will make its glorified return to the Ambler Sports Complex, where they will host NJIT on Friday, Aug. 31 at 4:00 p.m.

The month of September kicks off with a date at city-rival Penn down on the field of the new Dunning-Cohen Champions' Field at Penn Park on Sept. 2.  On Sept. 7, the Owls will host their first game of the month when Iona—a tem the Owls defeated in their 2011 season opener— visits Ambler.

During the rest of its non-conference season, Temple will also make stops at Princeton (Sept. 9), Siena (Sept. 21) and Marist (Sept. 23), while welcoming Drexel (Sept. 14) and Hartford (Sept. 16) the weekend of Sept. 14-16.

The heart of the schedule gets underway with a three-game homestand when it shifts to its final go around in the Atlantic 10 Conference, as the team will compete in the Big East in 2013.

A-10 play for the Owls opens on Sept. 28 when the team hosts Rhode Island, who the Owls tied with in the conference standings last year.
Wrapping up its A-10 opening weekend, Temple will host Massachusetts, who placed as the runner-up to A-10 Champion Dayton.

The following week, the Owls will host Saint Joseph's for a rare Saturday matinee on Oct. 6. From there, Temple hits the road as it will make visits to St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. In the final weekend of the 2011 season, the Owls tied the Bonnies and knocked off the Dukes at home, to collect a season-high four points in the standings in one weekend.

When the Owls return home Oct. 19-21 to close out the 2012 home slate, they'll do so in conjunction with the Temple men's team, as the two squads have been scheduled to play as part of a doubleheader at the Ambler Soccer Complex for both dates.

In the weekend opener, the Owls will host Fordham before 2011 A-10 regular season champion La Salle rolls in for the Sunday matchup, which will be Senior Day for Gillian Kacsuta, Casey Greco, Jourdan Brill, Kate Yurkovic, Brittany Wollner, Morgyn Seigfried and Tara Murphy.

The regular season concludes with trips to Saint Louis and Charlotte during the weekend of Oct. 26-28.

In 2011, the Owls finished 5-12-1 overall and 2-6-1 in A-10 play. The two wins in league play was an improvement from the previous season. Redshirt senior Tara Murphy recorded five shutouts for the team, which marked the most clean sheets by a Temple team since1995, which was the last time the Owls reached the A-10 postseason.
