Women's Soccer Loses to UConn 3-1

STORRS, Conn. – Temple women's soccer fell to UConn 3-1 on Friday night at Morrone Stadium. The loss drops Temple's record to 6-7-1, 1-4-0.
UConn came out firing, and the Owls couldn't match them. UConn outshot Temple 23-0 in the first half.
Julie Hubbard notched the first goal in the 40th minute to start the scoring for UConn. Stephanie Ribeiro received a pass from Riley Houle and scored less than half a minute later.
Jennifer Skogerboe added another goal to extend UConn's lead to three in the 46th minute.
Erin Lafferty scored her third goal of the season in the 73rd minute off a penalty kick to end UConn's shutout bid.
Shauni Kerkhoff made a career high 15 saves in the game as she was under pressure all night. Temple was outshot 33-5 in the game.
The Owls continue conference play with a home game next Thursday against Louisville. The Cardinals are atop the conference standings with an undefeated record in conference play (9-3-1, 5-0-0). The Cardinals defeated USF 3-0 at home tonight.
