Robert Sagel and Dan Scheck Earn Weekly Awards

10.7.13 | Men's Soccer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Temple men's soccer was awarded for its strong play the previous week, as Robert Sagel and Dan Scheck earned weekly honors from the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Soccer Six.

Dan Scheck won the Goalie of the Week for the American Athletic Conference and Defensive Player of the Week for the Philadelphia Soccer Six after allowing only one goal this past week.  Scheck recorded seven saves in a 1-1 tie against No. 24 UConn and four saves in a 2-0 shutout win at Drexel.  He has seven shutouts and has played every single minute in goal for the Owls this year.

Robert Sagel was named Rookie of the Week by the American Athletic Conference.  The defenseman tied the game against UConn in the 78th minute off a header from a kick by Jared Martinelli for his second collegiate career goal. He was also a vital contributor in Saturday's shutout win over Drexel with only allowing the Dragons to get four shots on goal.

The Owls return to game action this Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in an American Athletic Conference road game against SMU.
