Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight with 7-0 Shutout Over Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa.– For the second time in as many matches, the Temple women's tennis team defeated its opponent 7-0. The Owls traveled to Lehigh to knock off the Mountain Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
TU captured all three doubles matches in order. Yana Mavrina and Rebecca Breland got the ball rolling with an 8-1 win at No. 1. Jordan Batey and Alicia Doms followed with an 8-2 decision at the second flight, while Maame Ama Osei and Minami Okajima closed out doubles with an 8-1 win at No. 3.
The Owls completed the shutout by winning all six singles matches in straight sets. At three, five and six, the Temple players dropped just one game each.
“Everyone played really well today,” said head coach Steve Mauro. “We had a slow start to the season, but every week, they've been getting better and better and today was a great overall team effort.”
TU competes next when it hosts California (Pa.) at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 11.
