PHILADELPHIA – Victoria Macaulay was named the Most Valuable Player on the 2012-13 Temple Women's Basketball team at the Owl Club Annual Awards Banquet held Thursday, April 11 on the main campus at the Diamond Club in Mitten Hall.

Natasha Thames earned the Henry Sklar Award, presented to the player who displays outstanding academic achievement, leadership, good citizenship and dedication. Thames was also presented with a new award this season, the Temple Tuff Award. Rateska Brown was the recipient of the Sixth Man Award.

Tyonna Williams was the recipient of the annual Owl Club Academic Award for her success in the classroom. Presenting the award to Williams were Rose and John Hagopian.

The team finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 14-18. Despite being the 10th seed at the Atlantic 10 Tournament, the Owls made a run that included knocking off seventh-seeded Xavier and second-seeded Charlotte before falling to eventual runner-up Fordham in the semifinals.

Macaulay, an Atlantic 10 Second Team and A-10 All-Defensive Team selection, led the team with 14.1 points per game along with 9.4 rebounds per game. She was a four-time Big 5 Player of the Week and was also named the A-10 Player of the Week on Jan. 14. Macaulay finished her career ranked 22nd in points (972), ninth in rebounds (740) and fourth in blocks (211).

Thames, who will follow in Macaulay's footsteps as the only senior next year, returned from a season on the sidelines to average 7.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg in 31 starts as a redshirt junior. She led the team in field goal percentage, hitting 89-of-188 from the field (47.3 percent), and her 116 offensive rebounds were by far the most on the team.

Brown ranked second all-time in a single season in program history with 67 three-point field goals in her sophomore season. She was named the A-10 co-Player of the Week on Dec. 3, and finished the season ranked second on the team with 10.8 ppg.

Williams, the team's third leading scorer with 9.4 ppg, has a 3.0 grade-point-average as a criminal justice major. She ranked third all-time in a single season in program history with 161 assists in just her sophomore season.
