Football Helps Habitat For Humanity Build Home

PHILADELPHIA - While most college students were enjoying a nice summer day in Philadelphia, Temple Football was lending a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity make a home ready for a West Philadelphia family.
Over 30 members of the Owl football team converged on West Stiles street in West Philadelphia early Saturday morning and commenced to hammer, weedwack, paint, construct frames and clean up an area to make a new home ready for Tasha Underwood and her family.
"It means a lot. We are from Philly and we are Philadelphia's team so it means a lot to come out and help this Philadelphia community," said senior linebacker Wyatt Benson.
It is going to be awesome to have the feeling of being a new homeowner for the first time for a family that probably did not think homeownership would be in their future," said Temple running backs coach Tyree Foreman. "It is a personal feeling for me as my mom was a recipient of a Habitat house in 1991 so I know how it feels for this family to move into a home.
It is huge for us as it comes down to the foundation of our University as well as our team. we want to make sure we make an impact in the neighborhood that we are in."
