Women's Soccer Ties East Carolina, 0-0
10.11.15 | Women's Soccer
AMBLER, Pa. – After 110 minutes of hard play, the Temple women's soccer drew a tie with visiting East Carolina, 0-0. The Owls move to 9-5-1, 1-3-1 The American on the season.
The Owls and the Pirates battled hard defensively, not allowing a goal to be scored all game. Temple took 18 shots, half of them in the first 45 minutes alone, and forced East Carolina's Saundra Baron to make 13 saves.
Temple had two best chances during the game, both which occurred in scrambles at the net. In the first half, a scramble at the net led to an almost own goal for East Carolina and in the second overtime, the Owls almost landed the ball into the net after a corner kick.
Despite the tie, head coach Seamus O'Connor gives credit to the opposing team for challenging Temple's offense during the game.
"A point is better than nothing, it's a point closer to the playoffs. There's only so much we can do in terms of tactics," said O'Connor. "Sometimes you just have to give credit to the other team playing well and I thought East Carolina did a great job at getting numbers behind the ball and they really competed."
The Owls will head out on their final road trip of the season as they take on Tulsa on October 15. The game is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
