Golf Ties for 12th at Wolfpack Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. – Temple Golf, playing without its senior All-American Brandon Matthews, finished  tied for 12th in the 16-team field at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate Tuesday. Augusta won the two-day tournament held at Lonnie Poole Golf Course shot a two-round total of 573, two strokes better than host N.C. State and UNC Greensboro.

Red-shirt freshman John Barone led Temple and tied for 23rd among the 91 player field with a four-over 146 (74-72). Freshman Trey Wren was second for the Owls and tied for 30th (147, 75-72). Freshman Sam Soeth, who led the Owls with a one-over 72 after the first round, ended in a tie for 39th overall (149, 72-77). Sophomore Evan Thornton rounded out the Temple scorers, tying for 76th (157, 77-80). 

Augusta's Robin Petersson led the tournament with a six-under 136. 

Lipscomb (579) and Campbell tied for fourth, six strokes behind Augusta.  They were followed by West Virginia (582), Loyola-Md (586), Chattanooga (586), USC Upstate (593), George Washington (595), Western Carolina (597), Drexel (599), Temple (599), Wofford (601), Seton Hall (606), and Hartford (624).

The Owls next compete at the Autotrader.com Golf Classic in Duluth, Ga. on October 12-13.
