Delp, Deck and Light Honored in NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region

PHILADELPHIA - Three field hockey seniors have been honored with Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Awards after the 2015 season. Alyssa Delp was named to the All-Region First Team, while teammates Sarah Deck and Tricia Light have been named to the All-Region Second Team.Â
All three were all-conference honorees in the BIG EAST as well, and were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. For Delp, its her second regional honor after being named to the NFHCA All-Region Second Team her junior year.
"We are thrilled to have these three women represent Temple in such a strong region of hockey," said Temple head coach Marybeth Freeman. "Their dedication to our program was a pivotal piece to our successes this year. The staff congratulates them on a season well done."
Delp, who was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST First Team this season, led Temple with 16 goals this season to rank third in the league. Delp racked up three total goals in the BIG EAST Tournament, the first of which she scored with less than two minutes remaining to tie the score in the Owls' semifinal against Villanova. She scored twice more in the Owls' BIG EAST Championship loss to UConn, and finished her career with 33 goals to tie for 10th all-time in program history. Her five assists ranked second on the team, giving her 37 total points to rank fourth in the conference. Delp recently represented Temple at the NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Nov. 21, and helped lead her team to a 3-1 win in the contest.Â
Deck ranked second on the team this season with eight goals and tied for second with 20 total points. Her first-half goal at #12 Old Dominion on Oct. 20 proved to be the lone tally and the game-winner, giving the Owls an upset victory that sparked a five-game win streak. Deck's career totals include 11 goals and 10 assists for 32 total points in her career as an Owl.
Leading the Owls in assists this season was Light, who tallied eight of them to tie for fifth among all players in the BIG EAST. She also scored six goals for 20 total points to tie with Deck for second on the team. In her four-year career, Light amassed 14 goals and nine assists for 37 points. In overtime of the Owls' BIG EAST Semifinal game against Villanova on Nov. 6, Light scored her final career goal to send Temple to the championship game for a second year in a row. Three of Light's six goals for the season were game-winners, tying her for second in the conference.
Temple finished the season at 8-13 overall after its second-straight appearance in the BIG EAST Championship game. The Owls won five in a row before falling to #2 UConn in the title game.
