Butts Named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Temple sophomore Alliya Butts was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the period ending December 13. The guard led the Owls in a 2-0 week. 

Butts averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 steals, and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 58% (14-24) from the field and 57% from three (8-14) as the Owls knocked off Sacred Heart and Fordham. Against Sacred Heart, Butts netted 24 points, 19 coming in the second half, also adding six assists and a career-best six steals. In a win at Fordham, she tallied 13 points with a pair of steals. 

For her efforts, Butts was also named to the Philadelphia Big 5 Honor Roll.

Temple is back in action on Saturday, hosting Delaware State as part of a doubleheader. The women's game will tip-off at 1 p.m. at the Liacouras Center, followed by the men's game at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at owlstix.com.
