Deck and Delp Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team

PHILADELPHIA - Standouts both on and off the field, seniors Sarah Deck and Alyssa Delp have both been named to the 2015 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team. The pair are among 11 student-athletes selected for the honor, and the team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Ursinus College senior Megan Keenan, a three-time Centennial Conference Player of the Year, was selected as the team's Performer of the Year. Along with Keenan, Deck and Delp are joined on the team by Gwynedd Mercy's Stephanie Bacho, Eastern's Megan Bolton, Neumann's Becky Guinto, Drexel's Lauren Hibshman, Penn's Elizabeth Hitti, Widener's Mikayla Ninos, West Chester's Kristina Scherrer, and Haverford's Sarah Waldis.

Deck, recently named a Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Second Team selection, is a kinesiology major with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.76. She is a member of the Temple Honors Program, and has twice been named to Temple's President's Honor Roll. Deck was a 2015 BIG EAST First Team honoree and was also named to the 2015 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Owls to their second-straight BIG EAST Championship game appearance. Deck scored eight goals this season to rank second on the team, adding four assists for 20 total points. She scored the lone goal for the Owls in a 1-0 upset at #12 Old Dominion on Oct. 20, sparking a five-game win streak for Temple. In her career, Deck played in all 83 games for the Owls, starting in 82 of those.

Named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-America Third Team as well as the All-Region First Team, Delp is a speech, language and hearing science major with a 3.69 GPA. She was a unanimous selection to the 2015 BIG EAST First Team, and was also named to the 2015 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team as well as to the 2015 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Delp finished her career with 33 goals to rank in a tie for 10th all-time in program history, and scored 16 goals this season to lead the team and rank third in the conference. She has twice been named to the Temple President's Honor Roll. Delp played in all 83 games for the Owls in her career, starting in 80 of those, and recently represented the program in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game.
