Temple Football Announces 2015 Schedule
2.18.15 | Football
PHILADELPHIA (2/19/15) – The American Athletic Conference today announced the 2015 football schedule for its twelve member schools. Temple University now has a complete schedule of opponents and dates for its twelve conference and non-conference games this season.
Temple will open the season with a home game at Lincoln Financial Field against Penn State on Saturday, September 5. The Owls will then play three straight road games starting with a conference battle at Cincinnati, one of last season's conference tri-champions. Non-conference games at UMass and Charlotte will be sandwiched around the team's only bye of the season.
The Owls will return to Philadelphia with three home games in October. Conference games against Tulane and UCF (another tri-champion from a year ago) will precede an ESPN/ESPN2 nationally televised Thursday night battle at East Carolina on October 22. Temple will then host Notre Dame - making its first-ever trip to Lincoln Financial Field - on Halloween, October 31.
November begins with back-to-back trips to Dallas and Tampa as the Owls take on SMU on Friday, November 6, and then South Florida on Saturday, November 14. Temple will close out the regular season hosting Memphis, another of the conference's tri-champions last season, before the season finale vs. Connecticut.
For the first time, the American Athletic Conference will hold a playoff game to crown a Conference Champion. The game will pit the best team from the newly aligned divisions: the best of the East (Temple, UCF, Cincinnati, Connecticut, East Carolina, South Florida) against the best of the West (Houston, Memphis, Navy, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa). The game will take place on Saturday, December 5, and will be hosted by the school with the best record.
Season tickets are expected to go on sale soon. Call the Temple Ticket Sales Office at 215-204-8499 for details.
