Cagle and Gomez Sanchez Tab Weekly Conference Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Temple men's soccer continues to dominate in weekly conference honors as Alex Cagle was named Goalkeeper of the Week and Jorge Gomez Sanchez was named Offensive Player of the Week by the American Athletic Conference for the week ending on Sept. 13.
This is the third consecutive week Cagle has received the weekly honor following the Owls' third consecutive win and his third career shutout. Cagle now boasts a goals against average of 0.370 that ranks second in the conference. His 14 total saves rank first in the conference along with his impressive 0.875 save percentage.
Gomez Sanchez tallied four goals and one assist in the Owls' past two matches, adding nine total points for the week to cumulate a points per game average of 2.6 that ranks first in the conference. Gomez Sanchez also leads the way in the conference for shots, shots per game, total points, goals, goals per game, and game-winning goals. He is currently ranked first in the nation for shots per game with 6.50 and fourth in shots on goal per game with 2.75 as of Sept. 10. Gomez Sanchez was also named Player of the Week in the Philadelphia Soccer Six weekly awards.
Also earning weekly recognition is freshman Jordan Wix-Rauch, who earned a spot on the weekly honor roll after tallying his first career assist in the Owls' match against Yale on Sept. 13.
Amongst the Philadelphia Soccer Six honors, sophomore Brendon Creed was named the Defender of the Week after playing and starting in all five of the Owls' 2015 matches contributing strong defensive efforts that have lifted the Owls to their current 4-0-1 record. As a key member of the back line, Creed has helped to allow only two goals from opponents, and just one goal in the week's past
two matches against Rider and Yale.
