PROVIDENCE, R.I. - For a second week in a row, Temple's Blanca Fernandez has been named the American Athletic Conference Female Runner of the Week. Fernandez, who transferred to Temple this past January, has run in two cross country races for the Owls and has won both of them.
This past week on Sept. 18, Fernandez beat out the field of 75 runners at the Main Line Invite in Haverford, Pa., to claim her second consecutive individual title. The senior finished the three-mile course in 16:27 to place first for Temple, edging out Villanova's Angel Piccirillo by three seconds.
The Owls now have a week off before competing in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Oct. 2.
