Two Overtime Periods Result in Scoreless Draw for Men's Soccer at Delaware

9.30.15 | Men's Soccer

Newark, Del. – Playing through torrential rain and two overtime periods, Temple men's soccer ended its match against Delaware in a scoreless draw. The Owls now stand at 7-1-2 for the season.

Keeping the Owls out of danger was goalkeeper Alex Cagle who faced an aggressive Blue Hen offense and logged six saves. The Owls defense also played a key role in the match clearing all nine corner kicks drawn by the Blue Hens.

Despite the Blue Hens outshooting the Owls 13-4, neither team was able to find the back of the net. One of the best opportunities for the Owls came in the first half when Jorge Gomez Sanchez crossed a ball to a sliding Justin Stoddart who tipped the ball that deflected off the crossbar.

Matt Mahoney also saw a scoring opportunity early in the second half when he took a free kick just outside of the box that was saved by Blue Hens' goalkeeper Todd Morton.

The Owls return home to prepare for a conference matchup against #17 USF on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
