Women's Gymnastics Announces 2016 Schedule

9.30.15 | Women's Gymnastics

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's gymnastics has released their official 2016 competition schedule this week. The Owls are in full swing after one week of official practices under the direction of first-year head coach Umme Salim-Beasley.

The Owls will ring in the New Year on the road, opening up their 2016 campaign on Jan. 3 at Central Michigan with Wisconsin Eau Claire. This competition marks an even earlier start to the season than last year, when the Owls opened up a week later.

Following the season opener, the Owls will take a month-long road series, competing at Kent State with Towson Jan. 9 and visiting reigning ECAC champions William and Mary on the 15th. The Owls head to George Washington University on the 17th to join UNC at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational.

The month will close out with a quad meet at Pitt that will include George Washington and New Hampshire on Friday, Jan. 23, followed by another quad meet at West Chester with Centenary and Ursinus on Feb. 29.

February will begin with the Owls' home-opener, the annual Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational, where Temple will host William and Mary, West Chester and Ursinus on Saturday, Feb. 6. The following weekend the Owls will hit the road to attend the IGI Chicago Style Meet where they will compete against Alaska-Anchorage, Central Michigan and Northern Illinois on the 12th.

On Feb. 20, Rutgers will host the Owls and Penn six days later, followed by the Pink Invitational on the 26th against West Virginia, Penn State and West Chester. The Pink Invitational will be held in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

The first weekend in March will see the Owls' second home meet of the season on Saturday the 5th. Temple will host Penn, Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut in a quad meet.

To end the regular season, the Owls will travel to conference rival Brown with Southern Connecticut on March 12 before making their way to the ECAC championships on the 19th at William and Mary.
The Owls then look to make an appearance at NCAA Regionals, held on Saturday, April 2.
