PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team is back in action on Wednesday, heading to Orlando to take on USF in a 7 p.m. clash. The game will be carried live by ESPN3.
The Owls
• Temple is 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the American. The Owls have won seven of their last eight games.
• Most recently, Temple allowed just 17 second half points to finish off Cincinnati, 74-51. The second-half surge broke a 34-34 halftime tie.
• Sophomore Alliya Butts led all players with 24 points and three steals, while classmate Tanaya Atkinson had 19 points and nine rebounds.Ā
• Sophomore Donnaizha Fountain notched her first career double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, and junior Feyonda Fitzgerald tied a career-high with nine rebounds, also adding nine points and five assists.
• For the year, Butts has taken over the team lead in points, averaging 16.0 points per game, while grabbing 40 steals. Fitzgerald is second with 15.3 points per game, averaging a team-high 5.3 assists.Ā
• Atkinson averages 12.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest, while Covile (9.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Fountain (9.3 ppg ppg, 6.6 rpg) bolster the Owls on both ends of the floor.Ā
The Knights
• UCF is 3-12 overall, 0-4 in the American. The Knights have lost 11-straight games after 3-1 start.
• Last time out, the Knights fell to Tulane, 75-54. UCF cut the lead to just two possessions in the fourth quarter, but then allowed a 19-0 run, as the Green Wave put the game out of reach.
• Against Tulane, Joslyn Massey finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards, while Zykira Lewis also added 11 points. Fifi Ndour grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
• For the season, Lewis leads the Knights with 15.5 points per game and 33 total steals, while Massey averages nearly a double-double with 10.4 points and 9.0 boards an outing.
Temple vs. UCF
• Temple is 4-1 all-time against UCF, with the Owls winning four-straight match-ups.
• The teams met for the first time in 1995, an 84-66 UCF win, but Temple has won all four meetings since then, all coming in the American Athletic Conference regular season.
• Last time they met, five players scored in double figures as Temple topped UCF on the road, 71-54.Ā
