Temple Alums Will Cummings and Micheal Eric Selected to NBA D-League All-Star Game

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University alums Will Cummings and Micheal Eric are among the 24 players selected to play in the 2016 NBA D-League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire. The two former Owl standouts will represent the East squad in the 10th annual game, which tips off at 2 p.m. ET at Toronto's Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 13. It will be televised live on NBA TV and NBA TV Canada.
"I am so happy for both Will and Mike on being named All-Stars," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "Both are having great seasons in the league and are fine representatives of Temple basketball and their families, on and off the court. I could not be prouder of them."
Cummings, who is a rookie with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, has had an incredible start to his professional career. The 2015 First Team All-American Conference honoree ranks seventh in the league in scoring (20.1 ppg), fourth in steals (2.0 spg), seventh in minutes played (37.7 mpg) and 14th in assists (5.3 apg).
Eric, who played at Temple from 2008-09 through 2011-12, is in his second full season in the D-League, earning All-Rookie Second Team honors while playing for the Canton Charge in 2012-13. Now with the Texas Legends, he is averaging 12.4 points per game and ranks third in the league in blocks (2.0 bpg) and seventh in rebounding (8.7 rpg). His season high of 22 points came on January 2 while playing against Cummings' Rio Grande Valley squad.
Eight current NBA players are on the rosters of the Eastern and Western Conference teams, with the East squad boasting Keith Appling (Erie/Orlando), Rakeem Christmas (Fort Wayne/Indiana), Sean Kilpatrick (Delaware/Denver), Jordan McRae (Delaware), Jordan Mickey (Maine/Boston) and Jarnell Stokes (Sioux Falls/Miami). West All-Stars Jeff Ayres (Idaho/L.A. Clippers) and Erick Green (Reno/Utah) complete the list.
Four additional players with NBA experience join the East ranks: Lorenzo Brown (Grand Rapids), Jimmer Fredette (Westchester), DeAndre Liggins (Sioux Falls) and Ronald Roberts, Jr. (Raptors). An additional four such players are featured on the West team: Vander Blue (Los Angeles), Justin Harper (Los Angeles), Orlando Johnson (Austin) and Elliot Williams (Santa Cruz).
Another former Temple Owl, Mark Tyndale, also plays in the D-League. Tyndale, who earned Co-MVP of the Big 5 as a senior in 2008, is averaging 5.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists for the Reno Bighorns. He previously earned Second Team all-Defensive Team honors in 2012-13 while playing for Sioux Falls and Maine.
