Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 to USF and Concludes 2016 Season

TAMPA, Fla. – Temple men's soccer concluded its 2016 season on Saturday night, falling to the American Athletic Conference regular-season champions, USF, 1-0. Despite outshooting the Bulls 11-8, the Owls were unable to find the back of the net with goalkeeper Spasoje Stefanovic holding strong in net.
Through the first 45 minutes of action, the Owls were able to hold a scoreless draw and post three shots.
Temple goalkeeper Alex Cagle came up with a crucial save at the buzzer of the first half to hold the draw entering the second half.
The Owls were able to battle through the first 18 minutes of second-half action before an offensive surge from the Bulls broke through to take the lead. Nazeem Bartman and Ricardo Gomez assisted Luis Garza on a goal in the 64th minute. Gomez sent a close cross from the right side of the box to find Garza who redirected behind Cagle for the game-winner.
Shots from Jorge Gomez Sanchez and Albert Moreno were sent on target through the final 26 minutes.
The Owls concluded their season with a 10-6-2 overall record and a 2-3-2 record in the American Athletic Conference. This marks the second consecutive 10-win season for Temple and seventh overall for head coach David MacWilliams.
