PHILADELPHIA - Patrick McLaughlin, a two-time alum of Temple University, joined the Athletic Development staff as an Assistant Athletics Director for Individual Giving in December, 2016. McLaughlin is a familiar face to Temple Athletics after being both a student-athlete and coach for men's gymnastics as well as previous graduate assistant for the development office.

'It is thrilling to return, not only to my alma mater but to an athletic department that has done so much for me personally," said McLaughlin. "My time as a student-athlete at Temple was a priceless opportunity and I look forward to connecting with Owl supporters everywhere to help ensure we are continuing to enhance the student-athlete experience at Temple."

"Patrick personifies what it means to be a Temple Owl," said Temple Interim Assistant Vice President for Athletic Development Kris Graves. "He is not only a former student-athlete at the highest level, but he has worked in the development office both here and at Penn State.  He truly is the perfect fit for this position."

McLaughlin returned to Temple after spending just over two years working for the Nittany Lion Club at Penn State University. He was an assistant director for the Nittany Lion Club: Annual Fund from September of 2014 until August of 2016, at which time he was promoted to interim assistant athletic director for the Nittany Lion Club: Annual Fund. McLaughlin oversaw all aspects of the Levi Lamb annual fund in his most recent role, providing oversight and strategic vision for the 2017 renewal/acquisition campaign and developing a comprehensive development communications plan.

In the 2015 fiscal year, the annual fund grossed $16.6 million. McLaughlin led the inaugural intercollegiate athletics effort at Penn State around Giving Tuesday, which resulted in more than $200,000 dollars raised and over 100 hours of community service performed by student-athletes.

While earning his master's degree in sport business at Temple (2014), McLaughlin spent a semester as a graduate development assistant for the Temple Owl Club. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as an assistant men's gymnastics coach and was twice named the NCAA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

McLaughlin was an NCAA All-American First Team selection for the Owls in 2011, and was named both the PNC Male Student-Athlete of the Year as well as the NovaCare Comeback Student-Athlete of the Year. He earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Temple in 2011.
