LORETTO, Pa. – The Temple women's tennis team picked up another victory on this weekend, shutting down Saint Francis 7-0 on Sunday.
In doubles, the Owls came out strong with Alina Abdurakhimova and Anais Nussaume picking up a 6-2 win over Rafaela Panizza and Brittany Plazewski at the first flight. Yana Khon and Monet Stuckey-Willis clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Raksha Bode and Dani Gryckiewicz at the second flight.
The Owls were able to quickly wrap up the match with three straight-set victories. Khon picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fourth flight over Brittini Jentz, while Abdurakhimova defeated Panizza, 6-1, 6-2 at the first flight. Minami Okajima helped to wrap up the win for the Owls with a shutout fifth flight over Stephanie Miller.
"The girls played extremely well today, it was probably one of their best performances of the season. They came out strong in doubles and continued it up with their singles play," said head coach Steve Mauro. "I'm really happy with the way team has come together. Despite some injuries, the girls are really working hard and have been successful so far this season."
The Owls move to 4-2, 1-1 The American on the season and will come back to Philadelphia to face LIU-Brooklyn at Kinetix Sports Center on February 26 at 2:00 p.m.
