PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak with a 7-0 victory over Delaware on Saturday.
The Owls started out the day strong by sweeping the doubles point. Hicham Belkssir and Vineet Naran topped Tyler Flematti and Blaise Casselbury, 6-2 at the first flight. Uladzimir Dorash and Florian Mayer defeated Mike Furr and Tim Puterio, 6-2 at the second flight to clinch the point, while Artem Kapshuk and Santiago Canete took a third flight victory over Roy Cheng and Colin Wong, 6-3.
In singles, Dorash defeated Venkatesh Ramkumar in shutout sets at the third flight. Belkssir picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at the fifth flight over Wong, while Kapshuk took down Furr at the first flight, 6-0, 6-1. Temple also picked up wins at the sixth flight with Filip Stipcic, second flight with Canete, and fourth flight with Mayer.
"It was great to get back on our home court and playing against a strong opponent," said head coach Steve Mauro. "The win was a strong team effort from all of our guys, who just came out really strong in doubles and singles."
The Owls move to 12-3 on the season and will travel to State College on March 19 to face Penn State.
